There will be a short test afterwards....

The provisional wing of 3 In A Bar played a short set a couple of weeks ago as part of a Jazz Night at The Abraham Darby Academy, Madeley, where Mike teaches sax and clarinet. As you will hear, a good time was had by all, even though Mike's "humorous" introductions were of the usual high standard. 3 In A Bar stalwart Keith Crane played clarinet; long-lost guitarist Jim Pringle did not. The bass player on this occasion was Mike's old friend Tom Gledhill, who is a music teacher at the Academy. With Mike attempting to keep order on the soprano sax, you can hear them play The Darktown Strutters' Ball; Honeysuckle Rose; Just A Closer Walk With Thee; I've Found A New Baby; and unplanned encore (it must have been the drink!) Indiana.

Abraham Darby Jazz Night 2014

The evening was presented by SMADA (Supporters of Music at Abraham Darby Academy) and raised £900. This will be used to support the continuing work of the Music Department in maintaining a very successful musical tradition which goes back many years and has ensured that the Academy has become one of the country's leading education establishments in terms of musical opportunity for its students and the bands they play in, resulting in a high reputation within the youth music world - locally, regionally, nationally and even internationally!
